Rebels Start off with a Win
Last night at the Tad Smith Coliseum, the men’s basketball team took on North Alabama, with a big win in the exhibition game. The rebels came out ready to play, and they didn’t let anything get in their way. This win was very important, because no one wants to start off with a lost. It almost seemed as if they were anxious, because they’ve waited so long for season to start.
Tip off started, and the young rebels started playing hard from beginning to the end of the game. With the group of guys on the team, the rebels had no choice but to play hard and fast, because they all are very athletic guys. Sophomre point guard Dundrecous Nelson, led the team with a career high 22 points.
The Tad Pad was packed with plenty of rebel fans who were excited to see the young rebels play. The rebels played hard in front of the home crowd, and knocked North Alabama off their feet. The rebels beat North Alabama 91- 62.
Last night all freshmen played a lot of minutes, and they all did outstanding. Being a freshman on the team is difficult, because you have to prove a point in how good you are to everybody. Everybody got an equal amount of minutes, and proved why they were ready when needed.
One freshman who played extremely hard in last night’s game was Aaron Jones, who scored 6 points in the exhibition game. When asked how his first college game was, he stated “I was nervous at the beginning until I got the block shot, and the dunk. After that the training wheels was off , I had a lot of fun and it’s off to the races for next week’s game I like to say it’s been a pleasure.”
